The pay range listed above reflects the FULL pay range for this position. The expected ENTRY pay range is $50,024 to $67,662 annually, based on qualifying experience and equity within Maricopa County. The position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

With your service, you'll ensure that the homeless have job placements, children will be introduced to quality education, and the vulnerable will have access to affordable housing or rental/utility assistance.

In this role, you will assist in preparing budgets and forecasts for the Human Services Department as we work to obtain grants that will benefit our County. You will provide fiscal grant management, including technical assistance and preparation and monitoring of department budgets and federal regulations while ensuring fiscal integrity. You'll also never experience a dull moment where you're strictly glued to your desk as you go into cities and towns to conduct on-site monitoring of local non-profit or government agencies' financial records.

We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, public administration, or a closely related field and 1 year of experience in budgeting, auditing, government finance, or grant accounting OR

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or a closely related field and 3 years of experience in budgeting, auditing, government finance, or grants accounting

  • Must successfully secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card 

We Also Value

  • Experience in the public sector or non-profit accounting or budgeting environment with specific experience in budgeting, auditing, and grants accounting

  • Experience providing technical assistance related to government or non-profit grant accounting, including experience with compliance of federal grant requirements

  • Experience and knowledge of Budgeting for Results, CGI Advantage Financial System, and OnBase

Job Contributions

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for the department and individual grants

  • Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies

  • Review general ledger and analyze expenditures, revenues, payroll, accruals, and cost allocations to verify in compliance with County and grants regulations

  • Prepare grant expenditure reports, invoices, and cash draws in compliance with County and grants requirements while reconciling the cash draws

  • Prepare internal and external monthly and/or quarterly financial status reports that include budget to actual, forecasts, and reconciling variances

  • Utilize County financial standard reports and/or create ad Hoc reports to provide, both detailed and high-level, information in such areas as financials, budget, and actual expenditures

  • Must obtain Maricopa County Certified Agency Procurement Aide (CAPA) certification within 6 months of hire

  • Occasional use of personal or County vehicles to travel to and from various County locations
